Lana is a Lynwood Elementary School Leader who had a dream to make a difference in the World and her Community. Lana’s dream is to help tackle World Hunger.
She began with the end in mind and set a goal and developed a plan to achieve it. Lana, with the support of her family, set up a Facebook page and sold “Lana’s World Hunger Dream” T-shirts.
With the money she raised, she went shopping and purchased food to donate. Lana delivered the food to the Lighthouse Mission in Bellport.
Due to the overwhelming amount of donations that Lana received she was able to provide local families with Holiday Dinners.
On January 27, Lana hosted a Zumbathon at Lynwood to continue her mission. This event was open to the Sachem Community.
The admission was a $2 donation and a nonperishable food item. She was able to raise $600 to continue her cause. All food items were donated to the Sachem East High School Food Pantry.
“Lana is an example of a true leader who takes initiative,” said Lynwood Principal Danielle DeLorenzo.
