Sachem East honored alum Paul DiIorio in grand fashion last Friday, beating Ward Melville on a night meant to pay tribute to his legacy on the mat.
DiIorio, a former team captain and talented grappler, passed away last year after his battle with cancer. His legacy is remembered each year at the Sachem Takes Down Cancer event held at his alma mater. All proceeds raised during the event go towards paying the remaining balance on his college tuition, which his family continues to pay.
Sachem East had its way with Ward Melville, beating the Patriots, 58-13. The Arrows picked up seven pins in the match.
Sachem North, wrestling on the other side of the gym, lost to Brentwood, 39-30.
