In a battle of two unbeaten squads, Sachem North downed Massapequa to capture its second straight Long Island championship.
The Flaming Arrows beat the Chiefs, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at SUNY Old Westbury.
Sachem is now 18-0 and Massapequa finished the season 17-1. Both were the top seeds in Suffolk and Nassau Counties, respectively.
Sachem has now won two straight Long Island titles in boys volleyball.
Massapequa is the first team to win a set from Sachem since Ward Melville did it on October 8. It’s only the third set in 18 matches that Sachem has lost.
It’s on to the New York State championships for Sachem. They will have somewhat of a home tournament, playing at Suffolk County Community College (West), as opposed to traveling upstate.
