October is national anti-bullying month and many schools in Sachem participated by observing Unity Day.
Students and staff wore orange and signed their names on giant posters as a reminder to stand up against bullying.
Students pledged to be “united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion,” which was the theme for 2015.
At Sequoya, they also expressed their thoughts on bullying on paper links and added their link to a giant chain which is now on display at the school.
Organized by school social workers and student assistance counselors, Unity Day proved to be a tremendous success and served as an important reminder for all students.
Activities focused on anti-bullying and character education will continue throughout the school year.
