Celebrate My Drive, a State Farm safe driving event, was held at Sachem East last week.
EAC (Education & Assistance Corporation) helped to arrange for WBLI, the Suffolk County Sheriffs and the State troopers to come to Sachem East to help convince students for the need to wear a seatbelt and not drive distracted.
Suffolk County Sheriffs brought their carts, “drunk goggles” and the BAT mobile. The State Troopers brought in the “Convincer” to encourage students to wear their seatbelts.
Sachem HS East SADD helped at the event by having a “Safe Driving” pledge to sign and items to give away from “Teens in the Driver Seat” to students if they promised to drive safely.
SADD also ran a “Battle of the Belts”. Students were allowed to form teams and race against other team’s times by putting their seatbelts on in each of the seats of a car. The top teams won either an iTunes gift card or a “Teens in the Driver Seat” t-shirt.
