Competing against 20 top programs from around the US, including the No. 1 ranked team from six different States (four of whom are ranked in the top 25 in the US), the Sachem East Arrows pulled out a seventh place finish in the Eastern States Championship Race at the Manhattan College Invitational last weekend.
In addition to Sachem East beating the top ranked teams from Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, team leader Alex DeCicco was able to set a Sachem East course record– running 14:49.9 over the 2.5 mile course at Van Cortlandt Park, grabbing 15th overall.
DeCicco followed that up with a 16:40.6 winning performance in a double dual against Sachem North and Connetquot on Tuesday, East winning both (18-45 vs Connetquot and 17-44 vs North) to continue undefeated in League II action. Additional top performers in this week’s action have been Val Romero, Rachel Ruggiero, Tiffany Ly, Jill Manfredi, Lauren Harris, Caitlin O’Hehir, Karli Murphy, Lindsay Dodenhoff, Shayna Arrigo, Kaitlin Veigl, Chelsea Benedict, Ciara Murphy, Kaylie Wessberg, and Rachel Semetsis.
The squad travels to the Albany area this weekend to compete in the Burnt Hills Invitational at Saratoga Spa State Park, and the final regular season matchup will be next Tuesday (Oct 20) with the Arrows facing Commack on the Tom Toscano 5K at Sachem East at 4:00. Senior Day festivities will begin at 3:45 on the Varsity Baseball field.
