Last week the LS26 foundation, an organization started in honor of Sachem East alum Lou Segreto who passed away last year after a fight with cancer, held a fundraiser breakfast at Applebee’s in Farmingville.
Current Sachem East lacrosse players: (Steve Panno, Tyler Alvarez, Joe Licata, Mike DiRienzo, Dan Daley, Anthony Horvath, Garrett Murphy, Mike Bollinger, and Pat Castigleone) donated their time and worked as servers.
The players wore their red game uniform tops and worked very hard.
“I am very proud of these young men and the way they worked hard and presented themselves,” said Sachem East lacrosse coach Rob Murphy. “It was an honor watching them and a tribute to their upbringing. Unfortunately sometimes we have to face adverse events like the untimely passing of a very young person. It is nice to see the way the Sachem East lacrosse community came together for support and help.”
Segreto was a lacrosse player at Sachem East. He graduated in 2007, went on to graduate from John Jay College, and served as a police officer for the NYPD.
Tragically in 2014 he passed away from cancer. Lou’s family and friends began the LS26 foundation in Lou’s memory.
The foundation was founded to improve the quality of life of patients battling life-threatening illnesses and to lessen the financial burden that come in times of crisis on the families. Further information can be found on ls26foundation.wix.com. The Sachem East Lacrosse community unfortunately lost one its members.
