Sachem Aftershock, FIRST Robotics Competition Team 263, won the South Florida Regional on Saturday, February 28, 2015.
The team, which is comprised of members from both Sachem High School North and East, was seed 6 of 50 coming out of the Qualification Matches at the event held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was the captain of the three team alliance that won the Regional. They competed against teams from the United States, China and Turkey.
Sachem Aftershock was also the proud recipient of the Innovation in Control Award sponsored by Rockwell Automation.
Aftershock previously competed at the pre-season Suffield Shakedown held in Suffield, Connecticut. At that competition Team 263 won First Place Alliance, First Place (for highest score) and Most Farthest Traveled.
In March, Sachem Aftershock will compete at both the New York Tech Valley Regional held at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York and at the SBPLI Long Island Regional held at Hofstra University. As a result of the Florida win, the team has also won an invitation to finish the season by competing at the FIRST Championships in St. Louis Missouri in April.
