Sachem alum Jeanna Composti ran the Chicago Marathon in 2:42:34 this fall and she hit the B standard for the 2016 U.S. Olympic trials in the marathon as well.
Composti placed 23rd in the women’s division of today’s race. She is only the third female Sachem track and field athlete to qualify for Olympics Trials.
Linda Detlefsen ran the 1,500 at the 1984 Olympic Trials and 2012 Olympian Maria Michta ran at the 2008 and 2012 trials.
“Jeanna did awesome, she ran a very evenly run race with the plan to play it safe and just go for the standard rather than race for time,” said Sachem coach Pete McNeill. “She followed the plan to perfection, including coming up on one of her NYAC teammates that was struggling at about 20 miles and helping pull her through the next few miles so that she, too, made the standard.”
Composti is currently Deputy Director of the Real Estate Finance Division at the New York State Department of Financial Services, located in Manhattan.
