Sachem North senior Ian Fernandez will play Division II lacrosse at Domincan College.
“Ian is a good athlete who has worked hard on his game to improve,” said Sachem North lacrosse coach Jay Mauro. “We hope Ian will keep working and continue to improve for himself and the team. We look forward to his contributions in the spring.”
Sachem Report caught up with Fernandez recently.
Why did you chose Dominican college?
I chose Dominican College because I think it will be a great place to go away and focus on school and lacrosse. Also Dominican College has a great coaching staff and a good lacrosse program.
What will your major be and what are your career goals?
I will major in education and my goal is to become a special education teacher.
What goals have you set for the rest of your Sachem career?
My goals for the rest of my Sachem Career are to finish high school with good grades and to have a great lacrosse season.
What does it mean for you to be a student-athlete in Sachem?
Being a Sachem student-athlete is very difficult but really prepares you for college by balancing lacrosse and school. All the coaches are a great help to make sure your doing well in all your classes and make sure your doing the right thing on and off the field.
