In an interview with the Detroit News, Sachem alum Jumbo Elliott spoke fondly of former Michigan teammate Jim Harbaugh, the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers.
With constant drama swirling in San Fran, and a new head football coach position open at Michigan, many signs are pointing towards a possible homecoming in Ann Arbor. Jumbo approves.
“He’s extremely tough,” Elliott told the Detroit News of Harbaugh. “I’ve been in games with him, games he’s basically won for us and games he’s been knocked silly and gotten up and continued to play. He’s got that ultra-competitive thing. And Jimmy’s got that fine balance, a competitive edge the top coaches need and that personality and drive and commitment.”
Elliott also said Harbaugh has many tendencies that remind him of legendary Michigan coach Bo Schembechler.
“He’s taken what he learned from Bo, and he modernized it and put his spin on it,” Elliott said. “He has great enthusiasm, and he has that intensity.”
