The Sachem North boys cross country team finished fifth at the New York State Federation Cross Country Championship this past weekend at Bowdoin Park located in Wappingers Falls, N.Y.
The New York State Federation meet places the top catholic schools, ivy prep schools, New York City public schools and New York State public schools all in one race. The field contained 27 of the best teams in New York State and the top 260 runners.
The fifth place finish was the highest ever by a Sachem Boys Cross Country team. The arrows were led by sophomore sensation Jonathan Lauer who continued his great end of the season run.
He finished 35th overall earning the honor of All-Federation (an honor given to the top 40 runners in New York State).
Following closely behind Jonathan was Dan Block, John Onken, Dan Stretz, Mark DiFulvio, Mike Cavanaugh and Tyler McNamara.
