For the fourth straight season, Sachem East field hockey has clinched a spot in the Class A New York State championship.
The Arrows, now 83-2 over the last four seasons and 20-0 this season, earned a 1-0 victory over Webster Thomas in the state semifinal at Maine-Endwell High School on Saturday afternoon.
Sachem East advances to the New York State final against Mamroneck on Sunday at 10 a.m. The Arrows have won two of the last three Class A state finals and is looking for redemption after a loss last year.
“We’re just excited. It’s an amazing experience to be here,” Cara Trombetta, who scored Sachem’s only goal in the semifinal on a penalty corner, told Newsday. “We wanted to come out strong and get this game going.”
This Sachem team has already achieved more at a state team level than any other program in district history, and it looks to add to its dynasty ways with one more contest this season.
