Sachem East football’s season came to an end Saturday afternoon after a 33-7 loss to Lindenhurst in the Suffolk County Division I semifinals.
Sachem East’s only touchdown was a 12-yard rushing score by senior Josh Hanna in the first quarter, and then Lindenhurst went on to score 33 unanswered points.
The Bulldogs, who were the No. 4 seed in the playoffs, will play No. 7 Patchogue-Medford in the Suffolk County championship on Friday evening at Stony Brook University. It’s the first time Lindenhurst has been in a county final since 2008.
Sachem East has made it to the Suffolk semifinals three out of the last four seasons.
This marked the best record for any single-season in Sachem East football history. The Arrows finished 7-2. Both loses this season were against Lindenhurst at home.
Considering Sachem East scored a program-record 229 points this season, it was uncharacteristic of the Arrows to score a season-low 7 points against Lindenhurst.
