The Sachem North boys cross country team finished fourth at the NYSPHSAA Cross Country State Championships on the campus of SUNY Canton.
The boys finished fourth in the class A race and when results of all four class races were merged together they finished fourth out of the top 41 teams from New York State. The fourth place finish was the best finish ever by a Sachem boys cross country team. This includes Sachem before the split and Sachem North and Sachem East after the split.
On a muddy and cold course the Arrows were led by sophomore Jonathan Lauer who led the way with a 24th place finish.
Following closely behind was John Onken, Dan Block, Mark Difulvio, Dan Stretz, Mike Cavanaugh and Tyler McNamara.
The top four finish qualifies the team to compete in the New York State Federation Championships this weekend at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, N.Y.
This meet places the top 27 teams from New York State, catholic schools, New York City schools, private prep schools and public schools, in one combined race.
