Sachem football suffered its worst loss in program history Friday night in a 62-14 defeat against Longwood at Fred Fusaro Alumni Stadium.
Longwood’s (7-0) Isiah White had 15 carries, 231 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Sachem (3-4) was led by Kevin Bragaglia, who had 16 carries for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Flaming Arrows will travel to Lindenhurst next week in a must-win situation with playoff implications on the line.
Slats onto the next chapter
Sachem alum Michael Slattery finished his season as a volunteer assistant Friday night. Slattery, who graduated last year and played for the program, spent this season dealing with equipment and team management related items. He’s going into the work force, while completing courses at Suffolk County Community College.
“I always wanted to be a coach as a kid,” he said. “Being on the staff under Coach Falco, one of my heroes, is amazing. I learned a lot about organization, how to be respectful, and many things I need outside of school. This is the best staff to be a part of.”
Cipp back at Sachem
Longwood is coached by Jeff Cipp. His father Joe, the former longtime legendary football coach at Bellport High School, graduated from Sachem in 1966. He was on the away sidelines to support his son’s team during the game. Cipp played for Sachem under the program’s first coach, Kerry Lawler.
