Sequoya Middle School kicked off For the Love of Play by enrolling in the American Dairy Association & NFL’s Fuel Up to PLAY 60 school wellness program.
New York Jets Defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson joined students to announce two $5,000 Hometown Grant opportunities for one school district in Nassau and one in Suffolk County on Tuesday morning at Sequoya Middle School.
Following the announcement, students participated in a hands-on Fuel Up to PLAY 6o assembly featuring nutrition education and physical activities with Muhammad.
For the Love of Play is the American Dairy Association & NFL’s Fuel Up to PLAY 60 campaign to promote the need for 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
The program provides schools with a playbook of physical fitness and nutrition strategies to help them tackle growing rates of childhood obesity.
Schools participate in challenges to earn points making them eligible for prizes and grant money.
