Connetquot had only beat Sachem three times in the last 20 years, but the Thunderbirds picked up a rare win against the Flaming Arrows on Friday, a 47-21 defeat in the Battle of Ronkonkoma.
Connetquot (2-0) opened the game with a 21-0 lead after the first quarter.
Sachem’s (1-1) only first half points came on a 49-yard touchdown pass from Mike Licata to Kevin Bragaglia.
Licata, who was 14-of-17 passing for 163 yards, also completed a 1-yard touchdown pass to Sean O’Brien late in the game.
Bragaglia scored Sachem’s other touchdown on a 2-yard run.
