Sachem East came roaring out of the gates to open the 2014 season.
The Flaming Arrows captured a 26-0 victory on the road at Ward Melville Saturday afternoon in Suffolk County Division I action.
The Arrows (1-0) were led by a core of running backs who totaled 327 yards on the ground and four touchdowns.
Ryan Leone had 15 carries for 130 yards. Michael Royce had 7 carries for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Stephen Stahlbush had 8 carries for 24 hours and two touchdowns. Alex Bush had 10 carries for 47 yards. Chris Stahlbush had 8 carries for 46 yards.
Royce scored touchdowns of 29 and 6 yards, while Stahlbush converted touchdowns on runs of 1 and 5 yards.
Sachem’s defensive effort was led by Connor Farrell, who recorded a game-high 16 tackles. The single-game record, held by Steven Casali, is 17.
Billy Carroll had 11 tackles. Kyle Smith had four tackles, two sacks and one fumble recovery. Brandon Ryan had five tackles and one interception.
