Sachem North senior Joe Simone will play college lacrosse at Mercy.
Simone chose Mercy because of its academic programs. He’s unsure of his major right now, but is deciding between being a physical therapist or a physical education teacher.
He was also considering Oneonta, Post, NYIT, and Oswego.
“Joe is a good kid who plays with an edge,” said Sachem coach Jay Mauro. “He plays hard and is coachable. He contributed on a very good defense last year. Joe had a great summer and we are expecting big things from him in his senior season.”
Simone’s goal this season is to help lead Sachem to a county title.
“It’s been great the past couple of years playing for this program,” he said. “It’s an honor to be able to wear Sachem across your chest. At times it could be very hard, but in the end everything our coaching staff does for us, pays off.”
He added: “The best part about playing for sachem is the relationship between the parents, community, and the team. It’s a good feeling when all the parents come out to every game to support us.”
