It didn’t take long for Steven Casali to be noticed at the University of Massachusetts. Everyone in Sachem could tell you that would happen.
As a true freshman, he was a recognizable difference maker on special teams and threatened for ample playing time on defense at the linebacker position. By late October last season, however, an injury kept him off the field for the rest of the year.
He was granted a medical redshirt and has four full seasons of eligibility left at UMass. Already this year he’s made an impact in training camp and picked up where he left off.
“I’m waiting for my role with the team,” he told MassLive.com,” and I just can’t wait for this season.”
UMass opens up at home on August 30 against Boston College.
