Sachem North rising junior Dylan Rhatigan has verbally committed to play lacrosse at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
Rhatigan is the second Sachem alum in as many months to commit to UMass-Lowell, joining teammate Will Russo.
Citing his interest in the campus and coaching staff, Rhatigan felt comfortable upon his visit to the school. He also visited Maryland, Ohio State, Towson and Air Force.
He played varsity last spring as a sophomore midfielder before moving to attack this summer.
“He has really developed into an excellent attackman,” said Sachem coach Jay Mauro. “He has a good feel for the game and plays hard.”
Asked what his goals are with two years of high school left, and Rhatigan said helping Sachem win a Suffolk County championship, “and to become a leader on my team.”
Dylan’s older brother Kyle was a starting attackman for D-2 National Champion Limestone last season as a sophomore.
He plans to study mathematics at UMass.
