Sachem North’s John Salica has committed to swim at Adelphi University.
Salica cited Adelphi’s proximity to his hometown and the Panthers’ competitive swim team as the main reasons for his selection.
“During my recruiting visit I really felt at home and comfortable with the team,” he said.
He was also considering SUNY New Paltz and Alfred State University.
Salica will be performing in the breaststroke events, specifically the 100.
Salica said his favorite moment as a swimmer at Sachem was senior night when he took first place in multiple relays and also won the 100 breast in a personal best time.
“Having my coach announce my name along with my other senior teammates was a moment I will never forget,” he said. “I’ve been swimming varsity for north for all four years of high school and was captain this year along with my good friend and teammate Tom Ilardi.”
