As with any Sachem athletic program, the success of the most recent season is just more of a reason to work hard over the summer heading into the following school year. Sachem North lacrosse has a very busy summer planned and expects to pick up where it left off.
This summer so far …
Sachem just played at the Lehigh Lax Fest in the Varsity Elite Division. The Flaming Arrows went 5-1 losing in the championship game 7-6. J.V. and U-13 had very successful weekends as well. “The kids played awesome,” said Sachem coach Jay Mauro.
Jacob Giacalone was named to the Under Armour All-American Underclassmen roster for top players on Long Island. The Hopkins-bound goaltender is with some pretty big lacrosse names from the area and he’s already one of the top talents in the tri-state and beyond.
Last week the Long Island Showcase was held at Farmingdale College featuring the Top 20 in Suffolk against the Top 20 in Nassau in three age groups: seniors, juniors and sophomores. The following players represented Sachem North:
- Rising Seniors: Bobby Amato and Kevin Bragaglia
- Rising Juniors: Jacob Giacalone, Dylan Rhatigan and Tom Haun
- Rising Sophomores: James Avanzato and Ryan McAllister
