Sachem North boys golf captured the League II Tournament Championship Tuesday afternoon.
Sachem Baseball: Sachem North 9, Sachem East 1 … Sachem North is charging ahead to a top seed in the Suffolk County Class AA baseball playoffs. The Flaming Arrows beat their brothers from Sachem East, 9-1, on Tuesday. Dennis Buckstein picked up another win after going six innings and striking out eight batters. Steven Foster was 2-for-3, scored two runs and stole one base.
Sachem North Boys Lacrosse: Sachem 10, Connetquot 9 … Mike Aronow lifted Sachem at 3:46 of overtime to give the Flaming Arrows a 10-9 win over neighboring Connetquot. Sean O’Brien scored the game tying goal. Sachem is now 11-3 overall and 10-2 in league play. Mike Calvagna won 17 of 21 faceoffs.
Sachem East Boys Lacrosse: Sachem 21, Lindenhurst 10 … Yes, that says 21 goals. Sachem East’s Jason DeBenedictis scored seven goals and had three assists. The Arrows, who had nine different goal scorers, are now 7-5.
Sachem East Softball: Sachem 13, Brentwood 2 … Marissa Wilson led Sachem (13-5) by going 4-for-5 with a home run and five RBI against the Indians. Danielle Lucas went 3-for-3 with two RBI.
Sachem North Softball: Sachem 3, Connetquot 0 … Rebecca Amadeo threw a one-hitter, while Kirsten Bello was 2-for-3 and Sam MacPherson was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
