Merrimac Elementary School held a “Food for Friends” countywide food drive last month. Girl Scouts Troop 647 (all Merrimac students) organized the food drive to help in the fight against hunger by restocking local food pantries.
Their message was simple – “join us while we help others.”
“The food drive demonstrated the importance of synergy and thinking win-win,” said Merrimac Principal Veronica DeCicco.
Merrimac will donate over four large boxes of non-perishable food to people in need.
A key difference in this food drive is that it is organized and facilitated by the students.
They created the flyers, hung them around school, shared announcements, and got the word out to all. The girls lived Habit 2-Begin with the end in mind.
