Sachem High School North was announced as one of the “100 Best w!se High Schools Teaching Personal Finance” in America, according to a release from the “Working in Support of Education” organization.
Sachem North is one of 38 schools from New York, four from Long Island and two from Suffolk County to make the top 100.
This national ranking is the first of its kind in the country. Its purpose is to showcase schools of excellence in our network that are teaching personal finance and measuring student knowledge, according to David J. Anderson, Executive Director of Working in Support of Education (w!se), a leading New York City based educational not-for-profit.
“We created the Financial Literacy Certification Program to address the chronic lack of financial literacy among young people,” said Phyllis Frankfort, President & CEO of w!se. “It is imperative that all students receive personal financial education before they graduate high school, so they have the knowledge and skills to help break the cycle of poverty, make wise financial decisions and be on a path to financial wellbeing.”
