Sachem East alum Joe Botti, who played his college football at LIU Post, will participate in the NFL Super Regional Combine at Detroit’s Ford Field this weekend.
Botti will perform for a number of NFL scouts, coaches and other front officials in hopes of signing a pro contract in the coming months. He is one of 150 college football players invited to the combine.
Botti had 2,820 career receiving yards at Post, which ranks him third all-time in school history.
He was a All-Northeast 10 Conference second team selection as a senior.
Sachem East has not had an alum associated with an NFL team yet. There have been five players from Sachem High School to sign NFL contracts, including Ed Nielson (Bears), Jumbo Elliott (Giants/Jets), Brian Bravy (Falcons), Doug Shanahan (Jets) and Chris Manno (Chiefs/Panthers).
On a familiar note, Botti’s father Michael, who graduated from Sachem in the 1980s and played college ball at Rutgers, had try outs with Cleveland, Green Bay and Indianapolis following his collegiate career.
