Merrimac Elementary School recently held an assembly to present the school’s donation of $401 raised from the 7 habits tree to Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.
Mrs. Holton shared how the money donated would be used by the hospital. She shared a Powerpoint slide show so the students could see and learn how their donations will make a difference. The students also watched a video of Stony Brook mascot Wolfie dancing to celebrate.
Two Merrimac students, Sofia Iacono and Eve Danziger, helped with the celebration by teaching the students how the service learning project connected to the 7 habits and Habit 8: Find Your Voice. They shared a new hand motion for Habit 8- Find Your Voice.
“It was a great learning opportunity for the students,” said Merrimac Principal Veronica DeCicco. “It provided the complete picture of developing an idea, planning a project, setting and reaching your goal, and sharing it so that others can learn and be inspired from the experience. A win-win!
