Madison Hicks, a student at Merrimac Elementary School, developed the “Colors for a Cure” service project to help benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. They raised $307 thanks to Madison.
Madison created flyers, and wrote announcements to share daily at Merrimac.
“The synergy made a difference,” said Merrimac Principal Veronica DeCicco. “Students could see that working together makes a difference.”
Students guessed how many bands are in a rope that was visible in the school. Students guessed during lunch periods. The student winner, Mia Randazzo, was the winner.
Along with the donation, Madison also enclosed a card and a teddy bear for the hospital.
