Sachem North senior Joe Caridi has officially committed to Florida Southern to play college lacrosse.
Caridi originally gave Stony Brook a verbal commitment as a sophomore, but changed his mind as the deadline approached to sign his National Letter of Intent.
“We are very happy for Joe and his family,” said Sachem North coach Jay Mauro. “It was a big decision after his decommitment from Stony Brook. We are proud of him. Joe will excel and be a great addition to Florida Southern. We expect big things from him this year. He was excellent last year and he will only hopefully keep improving.”
Mauro mentioned earlier in the week during a signing day ceremony at the high school with other members of the team that many schools expressed interest in Caridi as soon as it became public that he would not be attending Stony Brook.
He was choosing between Jacksonville and Florida Southern before finally settling on the Moccasins.
Florida Southern is a Division II school in Lakeland and competes in the Sunshine State Conference.
Sachem alum Tyler Novak is a sophomore at Florida Southern this season.
