Sachem East field hockey advances to final four

Sachem East field hockey advances to the New York State semifinals with its 3-2 victory Saturday against Mamaroneck at White Plains High in a regional playoff bout.

The Arrows (20-0) were tested in this one, even allowing two goals in a contest for the first time this season.

Sachem led 1-0 after the first half on a goal from Shelby Trentini.

Katie Trombetta boosted Sachem to a 2-1 lead with 17 minutes left, and Kyle Larkin added Sachem’s third goal.

Next up for the Arrows is the state semifinals at Cicero-North Syracuse High on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 5:30 p.m. The finals are slated for Sunday at 3 p.m.

The winning streak lives on!

Sachem East has not lost a game since Oct. 24, 2011, a stretch of 745 days. That’s a mark of 63-1 over the last three seasons, including 49 straight since the last loss.

According to the NYSPHSAA, the record for consecutive wins for a program is 87 set by Marathon High from 2001-2003. The Long Island record is 61 set by Garden City from 2005-2007. Sachem East currently holds the Suffolk County record.
