With a strong performance against Stonehill on Saturday, Sachem East alum Joe Botti’s career receiving numbers at C.W. Post are looking better by the week. He had a game-high 10 receptions for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns.
In four seasons with the Pioneers he has 122 receptions, 1,958 yards and 22 touchdowns, all within range of breaking school records if he can finish the season strong. There are two regular season games left.
Sachem alum and coach Jim Byrne (1990-1993) owns Post’s career touchdown reception mark with 29. Jeremiah Pope (2000-2003) leads Post’s career totals for receptions (139) and receiving yards (2,435).
This season Botti has put up his most productive numbers with 39 receptions for 556 yards and 9 touchdowns through Saturday. He had 663 receiving yards in 2010, but will surely break that personal best mark before season’s end.
A two-year starter at Sachem East in 2007-2008, Botti ranks third all-time in program history for total career yards (1,672).
