The Sachem North boys soccer team is seeded sixth in the Suffolk County Class AA playoffs, which start officially on Saturday with an outbracket game.
Sachem will host No. 11 North Babylon on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m.
The winner of the first round game will play in the Suffolk County quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. at either No. 3 Central Islip or against No. 14 Newfield.
Sachem is 10-3-1 this season and one of the top competing teams in the county. The program has not competed with this type of dominance since before the school district was reconfigured in 2004-2005.
The Flaming Arrows have had a stellar October, only losing one match, a 5-4 overtime bout to Central Islip. Since that game they’ve rattled off four straight wins, including three shutouts by goalies Nick Szewczuk and Vin Formato.
This Sachem squad has all the pieces to make a deep playoff run and compete for a title, so bring your black and gold spirit down to Fred Fusaro Alumni Stadium on Tuesday to support the boys. With names like Harrison Weilbacher, Brandon Arango, Thomas Wittemann, Matthew Riss, Mark Ciaburri, Michael Scacco and more firing on all cylinders, this will be must-watch soccer.
This marks the second straight season the Flaming Arrows clinched a spot in the post-season and will have hosted a home playoff game.
