Longwood lends East homecoming shutout

For Sachem East, Isaiah White picked the worst game to return from his hip injury. Against the Arrows.

The speedy back rushed 22 times for 204 yards and 1 touchdown as Longwood held Sachem East to a scoreless performance on homecoming Saturday night, beating the Arrows, 13-0.

White scored on the first series of the game and made it 7-0 on a 2-yard touchdown run at 7:14.

“He’s a great back, he really is,” said Sachem coach Mark Wojciechowski. “On the first drive we have him in the backfield three times. If you don’t get him down bad things are going to happen and he scored on us.”

Malcolm Stowe scored the only other touchdown in the game at 11:54 of the fourth quarter on a 1-yard rush. The Lions missed the extra-point attempt.

Defensively Sachem East has been in most ball games this season. They held Hills East to 13 points, held Northport to 14 points for most of their 20-0 loss against the Tigers, and played Commack tight in Week 2.

Sachem East drops to 1-4 this year, while Longwood is 2-3.

The Arrows travel to Ward Melville (2-3) for their next contest on October 19 at 2 p.m. and then host Floyd (3-2) on October 25 and play Brentwood (1-4) on the road on November 2.

“Our goal is to always make the playoffs with our program and the goal is still within reach,” said Wojciechowski. “We have to win out and see what happens. There’s no other choice.”

The is the second time in three weeks Sachem East has been shutout. Northport shut the Arrows out in Week 3, 20-0.
