MetLife Stadium may be doused in green on Sundays when the Jets play, but last weekend it was partially black and gold.
The Sachem Touchdown Club brought nearly 400 people to the Meadowlands as part of a fundraiser for the program.
Coach buses packed with athletes, parents, alumni and supporters drove from Lake Ronkonkoma to New Jersey, and hundreds lined the parking lot to tailgate prior to attending the Jets-Bills game.
“We have had great support the entire season from our Sachem North family,” said Touchdown Club President Laura Slattery. “It was a true team effort on and off the field to make this season a success!”
Sachem’s party was invited on the field after the game to take photos and stand in the middle of one of the NFL’s newest stadiums, which will play host to Super Bowl XLVIII in February.
The Jets, led by rookie quarterback Geno Smith, beat Buffalo, 27-20.
Sachem football coach Dave Falco was on the same coaching staff as Bills head coach Doug Marrone at Cortland State prior to their careers progressing to new programs and heights. They have remained friends to this day. This is Marrone’s first season as a head coach in the NFL.
Sachem junior running back/defensive back Jasheem Banks had one his tweets featured on the big video screen in the stadium during the game (see image below).
Sachem North’s next game is on the road at Longwood on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Flaming Arrows are 2-0 to start the 2013 season.
