Last week the Sachem North boys cross country team defeated Sachem East, 23-38.
Sachem North was led by Anthony Coccia and John Onken who finished second and third, respectively, in the race with times of 16:53 and 16:57 for the 5k course at North.
Sealing the victory was the strong pack running of Dan Block (fifth place), Dan Stretz (sixth place), Isaac Garcia-Cassani (seventh place), Mark Difulvio (eighth place) and freshmen John Lauer (ninth place).
All seven runners from North broke the 18 minute barrier for the 5k and with his 17:52, John Lauer set a Sachem North freshmen course record.
The team would like to thank all of the parents that came out to support the race. This weekend the team travels upstate to take on the best competition in the state at the Queensbury Invitational near Lake George.
