Only one day left until the 2013 season kicks off, Sachem. We’re all anxious for Wednesday’s game to start and finish so we can get on to Week 2. Rivalry’s are fun, but they’re exhausting.
It’s hard to pin point one thing to watch for from each team this season, but in sticking with the numeric theme of these daily posts here it goes:
- Sachem East: Watch for junior Connor Farrell to take on the bulk of defensive leadership from his linebacker position. As we said recently, there is no replacing Steven Casali. Farrell, however, did have a chance to learn from the Sachem legend and has had am impressive career on his own with 91 total tackles. He’ll graduate as one of the top defensive players in school history. For his team to have success, he’ll need to step up and be a senior leader and make plays.
- Sachem North: Watch the progress and resilience of Sachem North quarterback Trent Crossan. For starters, he’s coming off a leg injury that hampered most of his junior campaign. He’s back and healthy and this note is to focus on more than his rehab. Watch his leadership ability, his passing ability, his pocket prescence, his ability to run the option flawlessly and more. He is a Hansen Hopeful in Suffolk and has all the tools to have one of the best senior seasons in Sachem history. Remember he scored eight touchdowns last season against Bay Shore … and his leg was only at 40 percent. Scary.
