Down to its final elimination game of the Suffolk County Class AA softball playoffs, Sachem East’s season came to an end on Thursday at the hands of Hauppauge.
Kaitlyn Snyder’s third inning two-run homer was all the Eagles need to beat the Arrows. The final score was 4-0. No. 4 Hauppauge (19-5) will play Bay Shore in the losers bracket final on Friday.
Tenth-seeded Sachem East finished 16-8 after a strong run through the playoffs, upsetting No. 7 West Islip and No. 2 Commack in consecutive games. The Arrows lost to Longwood, 6-0, in the semifinals and had to wait six days because of weather postponements and the holiday weekend to play Hauppauge.
Marissa Smith, who Sachem rallied behind all year on the mound, received the loss.
