Sachem has strong contingent at Penn Relays

For the second straight year, Sachem ran its fastest-ever Penn relays 4×100 m. relay.  Sachem’s 49.27 is the fifth best time in New York State. Sachem North’s 4×400 quartet ran Sachem’s fastest time since 2011 at Franklin Field in Philadelphia over the weekend.

The Michta sisters rocked the 5,000 m. racewalk as both had first place performances. Maria Michta won the Olympic Development racewalk in 22:17.91. Katie held off a collection of Long Island-based all-stars and other racewalk stars to win the High School Division 5000 m. RW.

Natalie DeQuarto had a sixth place finish and there was also strong performances by Sachem East’s Holly Lindoe (26:25.10 – 4th), Sarah LaPorta (27:58.22 – 11th) and Valerie Auciello (29:33.42 – 11th).

Katie won her second consecutive Penn Relays 5000 m. race walk.  She improved on her 2012 (25:25.05) time today.  DeQuarto – in her second Penn Relays – improved one place and more than two minutes over her 2012 (28:33.94) race.
