The rivalry that some folks in the community love, but others despise came and went on Monday afternoon. Sachem North beat Sachem East, 12-8, in boys lacrosse.
Both teams are hovering around .500 or below, as the Suffolk County Division I playoffs approach in May. Sachem North is 6-5 overall and 5-4 in Division I, while Sachem East is 4-5 overall and 4-7 in Division I.
Stony Brook bound Mike Calvagna offered the clear advantage for Sachem North winning 20-of-24 face-offs, giving his team more offensive opportunity.
North received a combined 10 goals from Joe Caridi (5g, 1a) and Shane Deboer (5g) and East’s Mike Buencamino had one goal and three assists to lead his team with four points.
North’s goalies John Quinn (4) and Dylan Ciolino (4) combined for eight saves, while East’s netminders Peter DeGennaro (6) and Michael Bollinger (3) had nine saves total.
Both teams have five regular season games remaining.
