Earlier this week we featured a “Spotted in the Halls” entry on Sachem’s Facebook page of a letter to students from fifth grade teacher Danielle DeRosa.
There was a strong reception to the post, praising Mrs. DeRosa for her positive reinforcement. Here’s what she wrote to her students:
Mrs. DeRosa, a fifth grade teacher at Gatelot Elementary, wrote the following message on a board at the school:
As you walk through these doors today I want you to remember a few things. You are amazing readers and writers. You have such a wonderful way of looking at texts and your ability to think deeply is remarkable. I have seen you all work hard throughout the year continuously challenging yourselves with complex texts. You read like detectives and write like investigative reporters. Every time I read your writing my heart smiles. Not just a smile, a huge ear-to-ear smile, beaming with pride and joy!Today, just like every other day, I want you to show me your brilliant minds. Read with your brains, but think with your hearts. Believe in yourselves!! I am so proud of each and every one of you and am so lucky to have you as part of the 5-1 family! Proudest teacher on the Planet, Mrs. DeRosa
