Sachem North student Kyle Kilkenny, who many know as a vocal member of Sachem’s student body for his lobbying efforts this past winter, is a member of Productions Over the Rainbow, Inc., a theater company founded by Sachem Alum Bob De Persio, Jr. and his wife Dana in 2005.
Next weekend, they will be performing two shows, with four performances total. The first show, “Winnie the Pooh Kids,” features Kilkenny as the title character in the Hundred Acre Wood, and is based off both the books and the Disney series. Performances for this musical are in the St. Joseph’s School Auditorium on Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.. Tickets are $8 each and seating is assigned.
The second show, “Children of Eden,” is a musical about Adam and Eve, and Noah and the flood. Kilkenny will be playing Noah, who is the main character in the second act. He is be playing opposite Sachem North senior Debbie Santiago, who you probably remember from “Hairspray” last year as Motormouth Maybelle, as well as singing at several school events the past year. Santiago will be playing Noah’s wife, “Mama Noah.”
“I’m very excited to be performing opposite such a great talent and a close friend,” said Kilkenny.
“Children of Eden,” although it has biblical characters and stories, has a beautiful message about familes and children. The music is also really incredible, Kilkenny said. Performances for “Children of Eden” will be at St. Joseph’s School Auditorium on both Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m.. Tickets are $12 each and seating is assigned.
“I am very excited to be playing such great characters, both as a childhood favorite and a Biblical icon in a beautiful drama,” said Kilkenny.
