The community will be given a rare opportunity to tour the inside of the Bald Hills Schoolhouse, a historic building erected in 1850.
The Bald Hills Schoolhouse, built in 1850, sits on its original foundation. After closing its doors to the children of the Farmingville community in 1929, the schoolhouse has longed for new life. The goal is to open the doors once again to the public and children of local schools.
The one- room schoolhouse will provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn about local history while transforming into an inspirational gathering place for art and literary students to paint or write. In order for this to be accomplished, repairs are needed to update both the Bald Hills Schoolhouse and the Elijah Terry House, a replica of the home built for the first schoolmaster in Farmingville.
