For the second year in a row, Sachem East sophomore and JV baseball player Nick Tedesco spent time training with the New York Yankees at their Spring Training facility in Tampa.
Tedesco plays first and third base for Sachem East and for Hanks Yanks, a travel team sponsored by Hank Steinbrenner and the Yankees and run by Yankees Executive Ray Negron.
During Hanks Yanks Spring training trips to Florida, Tedesco has had the opportunity to visit Steinbrenner/Legends Field, participate in showcases and practices at the Yankees Minor League Baseball Complex, participate in games at the IMG Baseball Academy in Bradenton, Fla., and had private tours of Tropicana Field, the Ted Williams Museum in St. Petersburg, and the Miller Huggins/Stengel Field, formerly the Yankees Spring Training facility, at Crescent Lake Park in St. Petersburg.
Coach Mark Wilson has introduced Tedesco to several professional and collegiate scouts, as well as several of the Yankee players and coaches.
Tedesco was recently interviewed by YES network after having lunch with Hank Steinbrenner and meeting Derek Jeter and Robinson Cano while working out with the Yankees at Steinbrenner field.
Being part of Hanks Yanks, Tedesco has been involved in many life-changing humanitarian and community service events, which have also been showcased on the YES Network and in various Yankees public relations platforms.
