Jen Prescott, a social worker at Sequoya Middle School, planned pajama day on Feb. 28 where students and staff were allowed to wear pajamas if they made a donation of new pajamas or a bedtime book for the Pajama Program.
The Pajama Program provides new pajamas and new books to children in need, many of whom are waiting and hoping to be adopted.
Many of these youngsters have been abused or abandoned and in many cases, have never enjoyed the simple comfort of having a loving mother or father tuck them in at bedtime.
The Pajama Program helps provide a warmer, more loving environment for children when they are at their most vulnerable.
“So far, we have received hundreds of pajamas and many books that are sure to warm kids’ hearts,” said Sequoya Principal Frank Panasci.
