Carol Karson, a teacher at Hiawatha Elementary School in Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y., was recently chosen to receive a Classroom Makeover Grant through the Nassau Suffolk Autism Society of America’s (NSASA) 2012 Grant Program.
This grant was open to all teachers on Long Island who work with students on the autism spectrum.
“We commend your initiative and motivation to help enhance your students’ learning experience, and we are happy to present you with this award,” Karson was told in a letter from NSASA.
NSASA is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers and all of the money they raise goes directly toward helping children on Long Island affected by autism.
