The Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Hall of Fame induction ceremony originally scheduled for Friday evening has been postponed due to the blizzard, according to a post on the LIMLF website.
Sachem alum and lacrosse legend Doug Shanahan is scheduled to be inducted this year. The hall of fame induction will now take place on Friday, March 1.
“We are sorry for the change, however, it is for everyone’ safety due to the storm,” said LIML HOF President Angela Rithchie.
Shanahan, a two-sport athlete in football and lacrosse at Sachem, is also going to be inducted to the Hofstra Athletics Hall of Fame in April.
That wasn’t the only unique lacrosse event associated with Sachem happening this weekend. Sachem alum Joe Amplo is in town with his Marquette University men’s lacrosse team, who will scrimmage Hofstra on Sunday. That was already pushed back a day due to the weather.
