Over the past year the Sachem Central School District has begun compiling profiles and information about our massive alumni base.
The district is looking to build a document with thoughts from alumni on why Sachem matters to them and what type of impact their experience had on the rest of their life endeavors and career.
“We are extremely proud of our Sachem School District for so many reasons,” said Sachem Superintendent James Nolan. “Our students, both past and present, are such special individuals who always find a way to use their time and talents to make the world a better place. We want to celebrate the impact that Sachem has had on thousands of lives by sharing the stories and memories of our alumni.”
It’s easy to get involved and supply information for our project. Please email Sachem communications director and historian Chris R. Vaccaro with your name, graduation year, career information and examples of how Sachem had an impact in your life. He can be reached at CVaccaro@Sachem.edu.
Sachem began constructing a notable alumnus list recently and will look to add new names when possible. This is still a work in progress as there are thousands of successful and talented alumni who have graduated from Sachem since its first class in 1959.
“I’m so proud to call myself a Sachem alum and feel it’s a distinct honor to be a member of such a powerful and prestigious group,” said Vaccaro. “Every day I speak to new alumni who have wonderful things to say about their experiences. It’s my hope to share these stories with the masses and continue to let everyone know why Sachem is one of the finest academic institutions in the world.”
This list, combined with alumni testimonials on their experience at Sachem, will be an open-ended project that we’ll look to update on a weekly, if not daily, basis. The project will live on SachemReport.com and updates will be posted to all of Sachem’s media platforms from Twitter and Facebook to The SCENE newsletter and even spoken about on “The Sachem News Hour” radio program on WSHR.
“We currently have a district initiative K-12 working with Gary McGuey and the Covey Institute so that our students will continue to become the very best version of themselves and highly effective, principle-centered leaders,” Nolan said. “Sachem students will continue to lead in college, careers and the military, and the world both near and far will become a better place and benefit from young men and women who will always be a cherished part of our ever growing Sachem Family. We are Sachem!”
Again, please email all alumni information to Chris R. Vaccaro at CVaccaro@Sachem.edu.
