Sachem East crowned seven champions and had another three runner-ups at its own individual wrestling tournament on Saturday.
Among Sachem’s champions were Doug Iadanza who earned a tech fall over Will Romero from Rocky Point; Anthony Messina beat Ed Henriquez from Harborfields, 6-4; Conor O’Hara scored a major decision win over James Matias from Rocky Point; Jackson Mordente beat Tyler Vigliaro from Smithtown East, 3-1; Mike Pistone beat Rocky Point’s Connor O’Gallagher, 4-2; Mark Tracy pinned Joe Russo from Rocky Point in 2:09; and John Vigh beat Christian Sabia from Kings Park, 5-3, in overtime.
Kings Park’s Tom Venier, who beat Sachem East’s Jakob Restrepo in the 138 pound final, was named most outstanding wrestler of the tournament.
Sachem will wrestle again next Saturday at the League I championships held at Ward Melville High School. It starts at 9:30 a.m and there is a $6 admission fee.
